Lissett Bickford scientist

Lissett Bickford, PhD

Instructor emeritus

Lissett earned her PhD in Bioengineering at Rice University in collaboration with MD Anderson Cancer Center where she developed rapid nanoparticle-based assays for cancer detection. She was subsequently a postdoctoral research associate at UNC Chapel Hill in the Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center; her research involved engineering medical devices for localized cancer drug delivery. Before coming to cc-TDI, Lissett also worked as a faculty member at Virginia Tech where her research was focused on nanoparticle toxicity and the effects of cancer therapy on immune response. Lissett’s long-term career goal is to make significant contributions in translational medicine by examining limitations to current practices and designing feasible studies and technologies to address these limitations.
